Project Introduction

The comforting feeling of heat that comes from sipping a dram of whisky surrounded by loved ones inspired the earthy, neutral and brass-rich palette of this home in Clapham. This independent development converts a period Victorian house into apartments, which is our another statement for the series of Homes under the Hammer.

Description

For exterior and garden design, repairing, unifying, and adapting the many layers of this historic structure has been a highly complex and rewarding challenge that reconnects us to the power of architecture. When designing the pallet, the culture of Clapham inspires us to mix the trendy minimalistic style with classic elegant touches. Taking all the key elements from the minimalism playbook, such as its restricted colour palette and affinity for limiting decorative details to those found in nature, the veining of marble or grain of timber – this design direction adds much warmth with muted shades of blue, off-white cream into the constantly expansive space.

With its reliance on luxurious book-matched marbles and timbers, as well as sumptuous boucles and furs, this is a look that openly declares its opulence.
